7th International Training Seminar of Positive Psychotherapy
“New Dimensions and Techniques
in and with Positive Psychotherapy”
25 – 28 August 2006 in Wiesbaden, Germany
(pre-conference 23 – 24 August 2006)

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are happy to continue our tradition to meet each other every year, in a different country, to enhance our personal and professional transcultural experience and to exchange our thoughts and ideas. This year it will be already the 7th time that colleagues from all over the world - Positive Psychotherapists, colleagues representing other Schools of Psychotherapy and students in Positive Psychotherapy - will meet again for the International Training Seminar of Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy.

Last year in Romania, the participants decided that after the 2nd World Conference of Positive Psychotherapy in 2000, it would be again time for Wiesbaden to host an international meeting of Positive Psychotherapy. Wiesbaden is the founding city of Positive Psychotherapy, where Nossrat Peseschkian started in 1969 with his psychotherapeutic work. So, we feel very honored that colleagues from different countries will come to Germany.

Here in the home-city of Positive Psychotherapy, you will have the hospitality of a very beautiful city (Wiesbaden was founded more than 2,000 years ago by the Romans, and is the capital of the State of Hesse), and the unique opportunity to see and experience the different institutions of Positive Psychotherapy such as:

  • The International Center of Positive Psychotherapy (the international umbrella organization of Positive Psychotherapy) and its headoffice

  • The Wiesbaden Academy of Psychotherapy and its polyclinic (TOP 5 out of 181 postgraduate institutes in Germany with more than 50 trainers)

  • The International Academy of Positive and Transcultural Psychotherapy (IAPP) (founded as the Peseschkian-Foundation)

  • The German Association of Transcultural and Positive Psychotherapy (founded in 1977, the mother association of Positive Psychotherapy and the first national association world-wide)

  • The private practice of child and adolescent psychiatry/psychotherapy of Dr. Nawid Peseschkian (the largest private practice of child psychiatry in this region)

You will be able to visit the international archives of Positive Psychotherapy, to meet the main trainers of Positive Psychotherapy, to learn about the latest developments in psychotherapy in general, and in Positive Psychotherapy in particular.

The International Training Seminar will highlight the challenge to be Positive Psychotherapist in the 21th century and will gather together specialists from different domains: clinical, educational and organizational. Our social responsibility as psychotherapists is increasing day-by-day, and in the home-city of Positive Psychotherapy during the summer, we want to meet this challenge. We are expecting colleagues from countries such as Austria, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, South Africa, India, China, Latvia, Kosovo, the Czech Republic, and maybe from Bolivia and other Latin American countries.

There will be also special meetings of all the Centers of Positive Psychotherapy, including the election of the new members of the Board of Directors of the International Center of Positive Psychotherapy for the period 2006 – 2009. There will be further consultations about the Bologna process, new Master programs in Positive Psychotherapy, an European Training etc.

A special cultural program is awaiting you, and your colleagues and families – depending on the German weather!

There will be a pre-conference on 23 and 24 August for the advanced trainers, and the main seminar will be from 25 – 28 August 2006.

Registration: Please register as soon as possible, so that we can plan with the number of participants. Please specify, if you want to participate at the pre-conference, if you want to give a presentation, and if you need any accommodation. There are many hotel accommodations in Wiesbaden. We have also reserved some rooms in the youth-hostel.

Registration fee: 150 Euro for the International Training Seminar, 70 Euro for the pre-conference. To be paid in cash in Wiesbaden.

We look forward to welcoming you to Germany!

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee

Dr. Hamid Peseschkian

Chairman, International Center of Positive Psychotherapy
